Bokanmeldelse : The Da Vinci Code : Dan Brown

The Da Vinci Code

By Dan Brown

The Da Vinci Code is a mystery-detective book written by Dan Brown and released in 2003.

The Da Vinci code is a book about mainly 2 people. One of them is Robert Langdon; the other one is named Sophie Neveu. What this book is about is finding out who and why someone would kill Jaques Sauniere, which is Sophie’s grandfather. During this search for truth Langdon and Neveu find out that Sophie’s grandfather is a part of a cult called the priory of the sion. This cult’s job is guarding the treasure that the knight Templars found several thousand years ago which can force the whole catholic Christianity on its knees. The treasure itself was documents proving that the teachings of the Catholic Church were just made up nonsense. The documents were the proof of that Jesus; the savior, was nothing more than a human being.

During this journey both Sophie and Langdon find out things about Christianity that almost no man has ever heard of.

This book is written in a very special manner. It is made so that you wonder what mysteries both Sophie and Langdon will have to solve next. You look forward to the next piece of the puzzle that is put together by Sophie’s grandfather and the remaining part of his cult. What dangers lay around the next corner? What will they have to do to get closer to the answer of Jesus’s mortality? I myself find this book very entertaining as it keeps you posted on mostly everything that the main characters has experienced, as an example, the narrator of this story tells you everything that happened several thousand years ago with such convincement that you would believe everything he said. He also tells you about Langdon and Neveu’s past in a manner that makes you wonder what happened, or that you plainly just find it funny. The humor in this book isn’t really outstanding, though that’s not really what the book is about, it has a few good spots, but there are few of those.

The book overall is well written. The character development is amazing, both Sophie and Robert changes dramatically during this story. You want to know more each time you turn the page. It is simply an amazing book. I’d recommend it to all teen and adults; it is a real mind twister of a book. But it is worth the loss of brain cells you use on scratching your head trying to find out what happens next.
